Pundi X and Function X Foundation collaborate with “Hope for Children” CRC Policy Center launch mint-to-donate NFTs to support children and families suffering from the war in Ukraine
Pundi X and Function X Foundation are collaborating with the Cyprus-based humanitarian organization “Hope for Children” CRC Policy Center to help children and families suffering from the war in Ukraine.
Under the collaboration, Function X Foundation and Pundi X will be launching the “Hope for Children” NFT collection. The collection, which is limited to 50,000 NFTs, will be available for participants to mint via https://pundix.com/hopeforchildren/ on donors’ desktop browser using Binance Smart Chain compatible blockchain wallets that support Wallet Connect Protocol, including Metamask browser extension, f(x)Wallet beta app, and others.
The “Hope for Children” NFT collection features 100 different designs, all featuring children of all races holding signage to display their desire for peace, no war, trust, love, and so much more.
How the collaboration will work is that users will be able to donate Pundi X’s PURSE tokens through minting an NFT. When users donate at least 20,000 PURSE tokens (around US$20 as of today’s price), an NFT will be minted for them as a certificate of donation. The NFT is a standard BEP-721 token and compatible with any blockchain wallet supporting BNB Smart Chain (previously named Binance Smart Chain). All the PURSE tokens used to mint the NFT will go to the official donation address of the Hope for Children CRC Policy Center.
According to the “Hope for Children” CRC Policy Center, all proceeds from the initiatives above will go towards providing basic needs items and services to children and families affected by the war in Ukraine. The organization will also coordinate with partners in neighboring countries such as Romania, Slovakia, Poland, and Moldova to send clothing, medical supplies, and dry food.
“We realized early on there was an opportunity to take something engaging like NFTs and have them help in what is a very serious situation,” said Pundi X CEO and Co-founder Zac Cheah. “It was a no-brainer for us to do what we could.”
Additionally, Pundi X will donate 100 XPOS devices (which enable crypto transactions with brick-and-mortar retail stores) to licensed distributors, merchants, and humanitarian organizations in Poland, to help them transact in crypto. Poland has notably taken in thousands of Ukrainian refugees. The Function X Foundation also will work with Polish Humanitarian Action and the Crypto for Ukraine project to take donated cryptocurrency and help transfer them to humanitarian organizations.
“Over a million refugees already had to leave Ukraine,” said Cheah. “Though we hope this terrible situation will end soon, it is an on-going initiative that we’re prepared to keep on helping however long as necessary.”
